Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.
Lending Hope's Mission Statement is: To provide Financial Capital and Education to the poorest entrepreneurs in this world. To empower each individual to become self-reliant. To provide for meaningful, life-changing ways that will give each family a chance to regain their dignity with means to sustain themselves independently. To eradicate chronic poverty forever with Education and Micro loans.
The Marine Science Institute was founded in 1970, around the time that the issue of water resources was becoming a major concern for many Bay Area inhabitants. The Institute's philosophy was founded on the idea that putting students in direct physical contact with their local bay environment will help cultivate their natural sense of curiosity while enriching their understanding of science and fostering a responsibility to protect their environment.
Throwing the Dogs a Bone's mission is to create a charitable platform that benefits the local communities of Southern California and the animal groups and rescue shelters that support those communities. We only promote no-kill and verterinary supervised shelters and temporary sancturies. These pets are part of our families and communities and we help provide them a voice so their stories can be heard.
The East Palo Alto Boxing Club was started to give the young people of East Palo Alto who are at risk of joining gangs or becoming involved in criminal activity a place to work out and relieve stress. They're a non-profit organization established to create a positive outlet for individuals who need some guidance in motivation, building self-esteem, discipline and responsibility.
Our members love fishing and enjoying the beautiful lakes and rivers of South Dakota. We are making sure these pristine waters are available years to come for our children and our grandchildren.
Operation Smile is an international medical charity whose global network of thousands of credentialed medical volunteers from over 80 countries is committed to helping improve the health and lives of children from more than 60 countries. Since 1982, we've worked with local medical professionals, governments, hospitals and other NGOs to deliver the safest care to each of our patients, and have established care centers wherever possible to give children ongoing medical treatment. Operation Smile continues to provide training and education for local medical professionals so they can provide care within their own communities and share their expertise. To date, we have provided more than 220,000 free surgeries for children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.
